Hey r/WVU!As I said in my meme about the steep, steep hills in Morgantown, I just finished visiting West Virginia for the first time. I'm applying to the school soon and it's one of my top choices. I'm looking to major in Sport and Adventure Media and possibly minor in Business. This is an overall review of my first impressions of campus! The Good• The community. While there are only freshman and a handful of upperclassmen currently at WVU, everyone we talked to was extremely friendly to me and my family. I felt anxious about walking into some buildings but everyone seemed to be fine with it. • Downtown Campus. While there are dorms I already know I'd rather prefer down there, I actually really like how convenient the whole place is. You got the Mountainlair, a library, plenty of other buildings on campus right next to things like Frat Row and High Street. It's the literal heart of the school! It's so interesting how Downtown is all built on basically a hill, and you can look anywhere and take a beautiful photo. • The Quad (Oakland dorm area). I have a friend who currently resides in the Quad, and that area just seems so nice and also convenient! Easy walking to the football stadium with the Tap House right next to it. For students who are mostly on Evansdale, they're at least the nicest looking dorms from the exterior. Very sleek and modern. • The Stadiums. The Coliseum and (whatever the football stadium is called) are beautiful! They really are sights to behold. Wish I could've gone inside of them. • Evansdale Crossing. Easily the best building I saw on Evansdale, seems like a great hub in general. • The PRT's, in theory. I've heard that they're usually crowded, but they make WVU completely unique with a great way to travel between Evansdale and Downtown. Hopefully they open up sooner or later. The Bad• The rest of Evansdale. It was honestly kind of boring besides the Rec center, which I couldn't see. I probably won't be spending much time over there besides Crossing and the Stadiums, but still. The dorms I assume are good, but that exterior makes them look like tall, imposing brick prisons. A top floor view would be cool though... • The very steepest parts of Downtown Campus. I've already decided if I go I'm not bringing a car, AWD and Automatic regardless. God bless anyone who brought a car.The Neutral• I likely won't spend too much time near the Health and Sciences area, but it still looks cool. • The Mountainlair. Lowkey, kinda small, isn't it? Still a cool food court and everything. The Rec center probably makes up for it. I liked the basketball court (that you cant use) and the greens behind it. I really did wish the court was up though... • Driving through Downtown Campus for the first time was EXTREMELY overwhelming. Walking eased me up a lot, but still.Ask me anything else or say what you want, West Virginia is likely my top choice after being there overnight! Spent about 22 hours in Morgantown overall. Would love to hear what you all have to say.
