I have autism and in June I moved into Autism supportive housing. I was so excited to finally be in a place where I could have support 24/7 and be away from my triggering family. Well the home I was in was not accommodating and had very little knowledge of autism. And the majority of the staff didn’t even have the education required to work in the position they were hired to do. I now have to move back home because they set unrealistic expectations for me despite it being their job to understand autism and accommodate me. I’m sad but mostly worried when I was living with my mum I was so depressed and anxious and I don’t want to feel that way again.
