Is the way we teach music theory outdated? Should we do something about it?

I was just finishing Adam Neely's video about music theory and white supremacy when it suddenly hit me, I don't know any case or example of someone who actually tried to change a couple of things in the methods we teach music theory, though there's not much to change actually, I'm sure there's a lot that could be improved.Does anyone know any case or material related to the idea? Or relate to the sentiment? Or music theory is perfect as it is?I would just like to know if more people can relate to this, once I couldn't find much about it.
