Alec Guinness’ performance while explaining the Force, the Clone Wars, Anakin, and Darth Vader to Luke...

Is why it’s heartbreaking to watch the New Trilogy.Guinness didn’t have anything to work with, except the direction of Lucas, and he conveys his experience with War like a Veteran, his relationship with Anakin like he was his brother, and the loss like he truly loved him.It makes brings tears to my eyes, because it was so powerful and it impacts you more with the addition of the Clone War Trilogy and TV Series. The New Trilogy just... makes it feel meaningless. All the Sacrifices Obi-Wan made; Luke’s journey across three films to confront Vader in RotJ; Anakin’s entire Journey from Slave, to Jedi, to Sith Lord, to redemption, saving his Son from Palpatine: All of these events that occurred for the Galaxy to be free from the Reign of Emperor Palpatine, mean absolutely nothing.George Lucas made this really heartbreaking story in the backdrop of an absolutely magical universe, and the Sequel Trilogy hammers it into a box and makes it feel so small.I honestly feel bad for George Lucas, and I feel bad for the other fans that love the world we grew up with, turned into a campy cash grab by Disney. I know I’m going to catch shit from the Abram/Johnson apologists, but god damn, I just can’t understand why the Trilogy they put out was acceptable. Are there any Star Wars Fans who’s first exposure was the Original Trilogy, that genuinely love the New Trilogy the same way they love the OT and PT?
