Hello everyone,So I’m going to preface this by stating that I know this seems like a silly thing to fight about, but I am genuinely wondering if my request was unreasonable.Basically, my boyfriend consciously chooses to leave his car running while putting gas in the car (essentially because he saw a Mythbuster on the subject and thinks there’s no point in turning the car off). Anyways, it makes me uncomfortable because I know that, while it’s rare a fire could break out, it could happen, and I’m usually the one in the car. I’ve told him it makes me uncomfortable, and he’s generally ignored me.Today, he did it again, so after we left the gas station, I asked him verbatim “I would appreciate it, if for my safety, you could just turn off the car while putting gas in your car while I’m in the car.” Obviously don’t expect him to do it when I’m not there, but I thought it would be a reasonable request while I was in the car.He responded and said no, that it’s his car, it’s my problem, and that, instead of him turning off his vehicle, I can get out of the car and walk away while he’s refueling. He also said I was being controlling. I just said okay to his response because whatever, I guess I’ll just get out of the car, but something still doesn’t sit right with me about it.Thank you in advance for your input!
