Can a sorcerer learn spells from a book or the like?

I'm a DM and I've been spreading hidden spells, books and scrolls around my world and I had an idea to make an irl prop with spells and plot related lore, for my players to find, and it's a bit made to fit one of my players since he's the only spellcaster in the party. Since he's a sorcerer I've been wondering if it's even possible for him to learn the spells from said book.
