Data Privacy and Data Science.

I moved recently to an European country and between all the cultural changes, one that rings my ear everyday is Data Privacy and other related stuff. From where I come from that's not a topic at all (Since privacy regulations are not a big concern), but I think there are some strict rules around Europe for all that.I'd like to understand a bit better how does this impact Data Science related projects at all, and if any of you know of digestible must read/know about things a data science team must care about with this kind of regulations.
