So today (2pm to 4:30pm) was our first load shedding of recent times. When the power came back on, All the devices were unable to connect to the Internet. Firstly suspecting that the load shedding had damaged or killed my router, I went to check on it. Router turned out to be fine.Tried soft restart, tried a factory reset, tried openserve guest login details, and even tried a new router completely. It syncs the adsl, but provides no Internet light or access. Phone still has a dial tone though. I looked outside to see if there's any visible damage to the physical line, and could see none. But the router is still not receiving any packets.Got to be the POTS Filter right? Well no problem I have a spare that I got free with an old router. But nope, the current filter is hardwired in, which means to swap out would require cutting and recrimping the line to an rj11 to fit the new filter. Quite the permanent fix for something you don't even know is broken... So I called telkom.Telkom said that "The system shows that your line is synced between yourself and the exchange" and blamed Mweb for the fault. So I called Mweb.Mweb said that "There is no data stream on the line, and as you've ruled out the router, it can only be a line fault on telkoms side." and reauthenticated my account on their system in an attempt to fix.So I called telkom.Telkom said that "The line is fine on our system. I've gone ahead and reset the port, but other than this, I am not allowed to log a line fault for your line as it shows as fine on our system. Good day"Now I am without Internet access, despite paying both for the full month ahead. Thanks Eskom, Thanks Telkom.Tl;dr Eskom Load shedding damaged my network, Telkom Blames Mweb, Mweb Blames Telkom, I'm stuck without Internet access.
