I know this has been discussed to death but I was hoping to think out loud and get some input. Planning to buy a Tacoma in the near future as a daily driver and for some outdoor adventure. I would like some secure storage for both purposes and potentially a place to sleep would be a perk. Major options seem to be a camper cap, a camper cap with a storage platform, a secured storage platform, or a bed cover. My priorities are:1) Somewhere secure, waterproof for valuables like a laptop bag, camera, or expensive tools.2) Something that can either be hosed down and cleaned easily or removed from the bed easily prior to being used for dirtier work.3) Minimizing structural modifications to the truck. Ideally, I'd love to be able to take everything off and have the truck the same as when I got it.Functionally, I think something like a TruckVault or DECKED system with a soft cap (hard cap if I really want to splurge or home made storage if I want to save) would be great. But I can't tell how much structural modification they require (and maybe I shouldn't even care) and they lock the truck into a specific configuration which can be undone or modified but not easily. The main alternative I was thinking of is something like a Diamondback cover with some normal water resistant storage containers. It doesn't require any permanent modification, is cheaper overall, and as far as I can tell seems like it can be installed and removed by one person pretty quickly. It looks like you can install rails onto the cover itself if desired later and in the meantime I can just sleep in a tent when needed. Thanks for any input.
