Trying to play The Sims 3 with upscaled resolution, any ideas?

Nvidia's DSR options in Nvidia Control panel appear to do....absolutely nothing.The game has a really tiny UI and at 1080p it's just too small for me. But at any lower resolutions the game just becomes outright blurry. The solution is to play at a lower resolution and upscale to 1080p...but...I can't get that to work. :(
