Looking for a leather sewing machine under $1500 capable of sewing 2 pieces of ~6-8oz leather, so maybe a bit over 1/4" (6mm). Seems like most of my options are the same chinese machine re-branded.

Is there much difference between the ~$1200-1500 Jukio, consew, highlead, machines? Is there a superior option at this price point? I don't mind assembly/installation difficulty, but I am hoping for a relatively low-hassle, reliable unit with parts easily available. Do I need to spend more?
