I recently made a post about the 10 things I thought would make the next Call of Duty a success (https://www.reddit.com/r/CallOfDuty/comments/b76hmc/what_cod_2019_has_to_havedo_in_order_to/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x)But, I'm back at it again. This time however, with the absolute best case scenario in order to give us possibly the greatest Call of Duty, of all time. This is of course the best case scenario, and I have to admit, extremely unlikely, but I'm a dreamer, and an optimist. So here we go...Activision Blizzard has been slumping as of late, between games getting boring and stale, failing esports scenes due to players becoming disinterested in their games, and the repetitive releases every year that seem to be minor variances on the previous years. Because of all of this, Activision Blizzard need to do something to bump up their stock and appeal to their shareholders, and ultimately, make some good money. How are they going to do this you ask?Well I'm glad you asked Timmy. They are going to blow all of our minds with their new Call of Duty in 2019 - "Call of Duty: World". Obviously the name is purely my own speculation, but considering they have the Call of Duty World League, I'm gonna roll with it, because a big part of this games success, is going to be it's Esports scene.First off, Call of Duty, and Activision Blizzard, are one of the few developers which have a big enough influence over Microsoft and Sony to really push back, and that's where my first big point comes in.Cross Platform play.Sony has seemed to push back against this, and personally owning both a PS4, and an Xbox One, i'm kind of ashamed that they so blatantly shut this down. However, if Activision Blizzard ensure Sony, that all officially licensed tournaments will be held on PS4, this could be enough to sway their mind. More people playing a game, where if they really want to take their game to the next level and compete on some form of esports level, they will have to play on Sony's console, should both bring more players to Call of Duty, but also funnel more sales towards Sony's consoles. It only makes sense to have one official console for tournaments as they have had for years, Xbox 360 was for a while, then switched over to Sony with the PS4. With this they should also be able to get rid of the 1 week early access for all DLC and content on PS4.More than 1 year of lifespan.Let's face it, games get stale and boring after a while, but, a new game EVERY, SINGLE, YEAR, is not a good idea, when you split the player base into groups of people that; Buy the game every year, buy only certain developers games (Infinity Ward, Treyarch, etc), don't buy one years game because they still enjoy the previous years, or, don't buy this one because next years will probably be better. Activision need to commit to 1 game for a longer period of time. It is healthier for an Esports scene, and allows meta's and strategies to fully develop. If they release a game, with a season's pass layout, with a new season every 3 months, it should prevent the game from getting old, stale, and boring. The best format for this in my opinion is as follows.Release the base game for $60 USD, no hardened editions, no veteran editions, no nothing.Have a seasons pass become available after 3 months of the games release. The seasons pass is $10 USD, and goes from level 1 to 100. There are 3 weapons in the Seasons pass, available for unlock at levels 25, 50, and 75. At level 100, you unlock a Master camo for all 3 of those weapons, and make it AWESOME looking. Change the guns physically and make them glow. Fill all the rest of the levels with exclusive gun camos, characters, etc. When a new season is released, 4 new maps are added to the game, FOR EVERYONE, regardless to whether or not you purchased the seasons pass, as to not split up the player base, and still give recurring free to play players something to look forward to. 1 of the maps is a remastered map from Call of Duty's past, with 3 brand new maps. This should generate enough income to sustain the game well beyond a 1 year mark.Esports All In.With Activision Blizzard creating Call of Duty Online with the help from Tencent, and now once again bringing Call of Duty to mobile also with the help of Tencent, they are preparing for something big with Tencent, and testing the water, as well as building hype with the mobile game. Tencent also owns another big company that seems to have set the gold standard for Esports, and that would be Riot games. With the experience and professionalism that Tencent can bring to Call of Duty Esports, we could be looking at the most popular esport in the next 10 years. If a game has a strong enough competitive scene and viewership, more players will flock to any game with promise of money and fame. This will help guarantee the longevity of the game, but also, their financial income for the years to come.If there ever has been a time for all the eggs to go in one giant basket, this is the time. No more low risk, safe plays, something needs to change now. Their competition has never been weaker, and it's time to strike. Overwatch is waning with a growingly stale meta in esports, Fortnite is dropping players like flies as it becomes more of a cartoon than a competitive shooter, Apex legends' Battle Royale format is not good for a competitive scene due to RNG and sheer volume of players in a game, Battlefield V, Anthem, and The Division 2 all flopped and were without a doubt the biggest shooter competition to this years COD. The road has been paved in front of this COD, and it's time for Call of Duty to take it's place among the world's elite.
