Unfortunately, I may be moving to Maryland for a while. Rather than dealing with their ridiculous gun laws, I'm thinking about giving my guns/mags/ammo/etc. to my brother for him to hold onto while I'm living in Maryland. I've been doing some googling, trying to make sure I'm following all the laws/best practices. However, still I'm fairly new to gun ownership and I figured I'd ask here to double check.I currently live in Loudoun County. I own a Glock 19 Gen 5, with three 15 round mags, and one 30 round mag. I also own an AR-15 stripped lower, with no other parts. It's just a serialized hunk of metal, but legally it's a firearm. So legally, I own two firearms. Besides that, I have a few hundred rounds of 9mm Luger, cleaning kit, UpLULA speed loader, and a few ammo boxes I keep all the accessories and ammo inside. I don't own a gun safe, but I have the gun lock that came with my Glock. My brother lives outside Richmond, VA, around Henrico. My brother is legally allowed to own firearms and owns several. He also has a Virginia CCW permit. I think he may also have other permits due to his job.I believe that since we both live in Virginia, and we're family, I can just hand over my guns to him without having to legally do anything else? Is that correct? I don't need to file anything with the ATF or state police? It's really as simple as handing my guns over to him?Besides following the law, are there any best practices I should be aware of in this situation? Thanks!
