Happy New Years! I was wondering if anyone could chance me.Note:currently a juniorPublic school, rank: top 15%GPA: 4.4 or so. Currently have 3 B. I have a mix of A and B (will explain later)Every class I take is AP or IB, except in math, where I’m a year ahead.I am expecting to receive an IB diploma when I graduate.ACT: 30 SAT:1290 SAT II: 790 Chinese, 780 Bio AP: 5,3,4,4,5 at the momentExtracurricular: I teach at a well known Chinese school as a TA, I am a paid intern at a dental practice, second flute in an orchestra (well known), Taiwanese gov sponsored ambassador program for US dwelling kids (It’s a competitive program), tutoring, black belt in kendo, dragonboating, founded debate and philosophy club at schoolAwards: 2nd in dragonboating (international), best 8 in US kendo freshman year, presidential volunteer award.Essays are ok, I’ve been drafting.Hobbies I might mention is that I have a passion for learning languages (semi fluent in Russian and German, self learned), baking and dentistry.Asian, lower class 50k > First generation student.Explanation for low grades if you were wondering: sophomore year I had 2B both semester because I was bullied extensively by my toxic friends and my parents were divorcing. (I broke away from my friend group this year) and I have 3Bs rn because my best friend of 14 years died recently in an accident so that messed me up and that week, my grade tanked.Personally I am proud of how much growth I’ve experienced in the past years. I’ve cut ties with toxic friends, dealt with family and made ends meet by helping to pay bills, and kept a positive attitude.I understand Barnard is a reach, as well as Rice and UCLA but please tell me if it is a realistic goal.Thank you!
